We've unleashed FooPets out of the web browser and onto your desktop, to romp freely over any running application!

It's never been so easy and convenient to feed, water, pet and play with your FooPets. You'll want to keep them near no matter what you're working on!

One quick and easy download will allow you to access any of your adopted furry friends. You can move your cuddly buddy by picking it up by the scruff of its neck and plopping it anywhere on your screen, and your FooPet may surprise you by taking a walk across your screen and napping in the most unexpected places!

If you own more than one FooPet, simply right-click on your pet to bring up a menu that lets you select which FooPet you want to make active:

You can work on documents right underneath your FooPet, and move him out of the way easily if he gets too onery!

How to Install

Step 1. Click on the Install Button

Click on 'Install Now' to download your free FooPets Desktop application. FooPets Desktop is built using Adobe AIR and will run on Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. The installer will confirm whether you have the latest Adobe Flash and Adobe AIR players, and will automatically download or update the software for free.

By downloading the software you agree to the terms and conditions.

Step 2. Open and Store file (MacOS only)

If you're a MacOS user, you may get a dialog to Save or Open the file. It's easiest to click on 'Open,' which will automatically install the FooPets Desktop into your 'Applications' folder.

Step 3. Confirm Installation

Click on the 'Install' button to confirm installation. Adobe AIR is proven to be a safe download and is trusted worldwide.

NOTE: All Adobe AIR apps display the warning of "System Access: UNRESTRICTED." For further explanation, see this blog post by Adobe.

Step 4. Confirm Installation Location

Click on the 'Continue' button to confirm installing FooPets Desktop.

Step 5. Accept the Application License Agreement

Click on 'I Agree' and get ready to welcome your FooPet onto your computer screen.

How to Play

1. Login to FooPets Desktop

When you first launch FooPets Desktop, you'll need to login. After that, login will be automatic when you launch the app. NOTE: you can change your login (in the case of a shared computer) anytime by right-clicking on your FooPet and selecting "Change Login" from the popup menu. To log out, select "Change Login" and click "Login" without entering any information.

If you do not have a FooPets account (or do not own a FooPet), you will need to create an account and/or adopt at least one FooPet. Click on the 'Create Account' link and follow the prompts.

Facebook and MySpace Users

If you only visit FooPets through Facebook or MySpace, go to your 'Account' page. Enter and save your email and password. These will become your login credentials for the FooPets Desktop application and when visiting FooPets.com.

2. How do I play with my new FooPets Desktop?

Roll your cursor under your FooPets Desktop buddy to display the menu dock. The following options will appear:

	Mute: click to toggle the sound on or off
	Play Toy: click to engage your FooPet with a fun toy while increasing happiness
	Chew Toy: click to give your FooPet something to chomp on while increasing happinesss
	Water: click to quench your FooPet's thirst while improving health
	Food: click to satiate your FooPet's hunger while improving health
	Search: Search the Web right from your FooPets Desktop. The magnifying glass icon will prompt a text box where you can type in your search words. Click on the 'Web Search' button, and your search results will appear in a new Web browser window or tab.
	Stats: click to check your FooPet's statistics (health, hunger, etc.)

3. How do I pet my desktop FooPet?

Petting your desktop companion is easy! Simply roll your mouse over the areas you want to rub. Do not click or drag your mouse button. Doing so will confuse your FooPet. Please note, when your FooPet is first released onto the desktop, it will take a while to adjust to your commands. Keep it up, and your FooPet start responding more quickly. Remember, petting makes your FooPet very happy.

4. I own more than one FooPet. How do I change which one displays on my desktop?

Windows: Right-click on your FooPets Desktop pet. A popup menu with the names of your other FooPets will appear. Select one.

MacOS: Go to the FooPets Desktop application menu located on the top left of your screen, or right-click your mouse to display your adopted FooPets and select another one. Care for them all right from your desktop!

Troubleshooting

What if my FooPets Desktop freezes?

Try grabbing your desktop FooPet by the scruff of its neck and plopping it somewhere else on your desktop. If you are still having trouble, quit FooPets (Alt-F4 on Windows, Ctrl-Q on MacOS, or select Quit from the menu), then Restart from your Programs or Applications.

What if I accidentally hit 'Save' instead of 'Open' when downloading the application? (MacOS only)

Remember where you saved the application during the download process. The application will most likely be in your 'Applications' folder. You can also download the application again, this time clicking on 'Open' instead.

I own one of the early FooPet puppies. Will they work in FooPets Desktop?

Legacy pups (those adopted prior to December 2007) will support some but all interactions and animations available within the FooPets Desktop application; you may experience increased problems when running them.

How do I make sure I'm running the lastest version of FooPets Desktop?

If you quit and relaunch the program, it will check for updates automatically and give you the option to download and install. Alternatively, you can see the version you're running in the program menu and compare it with the version listed at the top of this page.

I'm having problems installing the application. What else can I try?

You can try downloading Adobe AIR directly from Adobe at http://get.adobe.com/air/. After successfully installing Adobe AIR, you can either retry to install from the "Install Now" link above or try downloading the FoopetsDesktop air directly from: http://foo.edgesuite.net/players/FooPetsDesktop_1_04.air?v=1.04.
