My Winning Entry for the Friends Poem Contest 09.06.2011
Although you are a foo-friend of mine
and messages we exchange,
I wouldnt know you on the street,
and doesnt that seem strange?
You hold a place within my life,
unusual and unique;
We share ideals and special dreams,
and still, we do not speak.
I picture what I think you are,
perhaps you picture me.
An intriguing game for both of us
for someone we cant see.
So for this friendship we possess,
we owe FooPets a debt,
Perhaps the charm lies in the fact
that we have never met.

Finn 25.08.2012 My Hubby John And I
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MYSELF
I was born in London and moved to Devon in 1973. I was with my first husband then and in 1975 my son was born (Kieren). Unfortunately in 1982 my then husband ran away with his secretary and moved 115 miles away to Bristol. I do not blame him as we were only 15 when we met and were married at the age of 20. He was the only boy friend I had ever had and I was his first girl friend. We just grew up. It was a bit of a struggle though bringing up my son on my own both emotionally and financially. However I coped.
Time went by and Kieren did very well at school and gained many qualifications! It was a struggle for him as he was born with a hearing loss! He was teased a great deal as a child. When he had finished college I thought he would work in the financial field as he had high qualifications in business studies. However one day he came home and said to me that he had decided to move to Bristol so he could see his Dad more and wanted to train to become a nurse and so he did. He is now a qualified Midwife and half the baby boys he has delivered have been named after him. He married a lovely girl 10 years ago (Jai) and she to me is like the daughter I never had.
In 1993 I met my second husband John he is a painter and decorator so is really handy to have around! We got married in April 1998. He asked me on several occasions to marry him but I kept turning him down as I did not really want to get married again but in the end I did! I can honestly say though that I have never been happier. John has one son Gareth aged 31 who only lives 5 miles away but unfortunately we do not see him very often. In fact we see Kieren more as he comes to see me at least once a month and he always brings me a huge bunch of flowers.
I was 60 on April 8th 2010 and retired from my position as Kitchen Manager where I worked for nine years for a Residential Home.at the beginning of May !!I love cooking and am always trying out new recipes which I find on the Internet.
THE RAINBOW BRIDGE STORY
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.
In Loving Memory of my Border Collie Buster who left me on 16th April 2008I hope you are happy my darling dog!!
