"You may wonder why there aren't any male Calicos available for adoption. Male calicos are extremely rare. Why? The short answer is genetics. Two X chromosomes (XX), or a female, are needed to produce a coat of tri-color patches, typically orange, black and white. A male calico would have two X chromosomes and one Y chromosome (XXY) which is very unusual."
