A Poem For Annie Bubbles
Annie darling , Annie sweetheart
I was happy with the Task, which was How Annie Spent Her Summer Vacation. I love to write so I tried to think of something cute and a little off the wall. I decided on a doggie cruise with Blueh and put as much heart as I could into the task. Then I played the waiting game again. There were awesome stories, and I was again very uncertain if I would pass to the next Tops. When the Top 5 were announced, I thought I would faint from the shock and excitement. Blueh was wondering what a good task would be, and I suggested making a graphic of Annie. I love making pictures, so it was my first thought, and Blueh chose to go with it!
I got a picture of Annie off of her profile and went hunting for the things needed to make her picture awesome. I started off by finding a trick-or-treat pail that she could carry in her mouth. Then I found a real life witch’s costume for a dog, it took a LOT of finangling, but I finally got it to fit and look adorable. Then since I knew I wanted Bubbles to be part of her name, I found a bubble background, and finally I added some cool glowing orange text that said “Happy Halloween Love Annie Bubbles”. It took forever to put it all together, but it was a lot of fun, and I was hoping and praying that it was okay to use the Halloween theme because I actually thought my picture looked pretty cool. Then it was hurry up and wait yet again. The Top 3 were announced, and I was once more so happy and ecstatic to be among them.
The Task was…..no task! Haha, not quite. Actually we were allowed to do anything as long as it involved Annie. So I decided to go all out. I decided to make a poem, her scene if I was lucky enough to adopt her, a rough draft of her profile, and another graphic without a Halloween scene. Then a few days later, the winner was announced. I was dumbfounded and ecstatic to read that it was me!
At first I was going to name her Bubbles after my sister’s JRTRC who is such an awesome dog. But as the competition went on, Annie began more and more to seem as if it should stay her name. So I opted for both and decided on Annie Bubbles, which is an adorable and cute name for an adorable and cute dog.

It was late August and Annie was hot! The sun was boiling hot and she wished more than anything for a pool of water or rain to run through. Suddenly, Blueh came out holding a leash and pulling a suitcase behind her. She was also fumbling and trying to carry a dog carrier. Annie’s ears perked up as soon as she saw the leash, but she stared warily at the carrier. Usually the carrier meant a trip to the vet! Yuck! She was curious about the suitcase as she had never seen it before and didn’t know it’s purpose.
“Wanna go for a ride?”, Blueh asked. Those were the magic words, and Annie began to wag her tail furiously making her entire body wiggle with unrestrained excitement. As Blueh opened the trunk of her car and stashed the suitcase and carrier, Annie came up and put her back paws on the bumper. She looked up expectantly at Blueh, but she only shook her head and said, “It’s a surprise.” And she snapped the leash on Annie who bounded into the passenger seat of the car as soon as the door was opened. Blueh put the window partway down, and as she started their mystery trip, Annie hung her head happily out the window, enjoying the wind blowing through her fur and letting her tongue loll out to the side.
They drove for a very long while, and slowly Annie became aware of a different scent in the air. It was the scent of water! Oh, her little doggy prayers had been answered! As Blueh parked the car, Annie looked at a bohemoth monstrosity sitting right in the water and trembled a little. Sensing the dog’s fear, Blueh reached over and scratched her ears. She said, “Don’t worry, you’ll love it! I found a cruise for special dogs and their owners, and it cost a fortune so you’d better enjoy it,” she said laughing. It was obvious that whatever the huge thing in the water was, her master wasn’t scared, she was excited. So that excitement crept back into Annie.
Blueh fetched the carrier and put Annie in, explaining to the pup that to board the ship, she had to be contained. This confused Annie, but the scent of the ocean was strong in her nostrils, and so she didn’t mind. Suddenly, a huge horn sounded and the thing started moving across the water. Blueh carried Annie and her suitcase to their room, then let Annie out to investigate. It was interesting because it was new, but soon she was bored and wanted to see what was outside. So she put her leash back on and Blueh led her out to a world previously unimagined by Annie.
There were dogs everywhere. Blueh led Annie to a sparkling blue swimming pool filled with all dogs. There was a small set of steps that led up to a thing that went from up high into the pool. The first time Blueh had to carry her up and set her on the wet water slide and gave her a gentle push. Annie was amazed! The wind, the water, and the deliciously funny feeling in her tummy as she dropped was so neat! Annie jumped out of the pool and bounded back up the steps all on her own. Blueh sat in a beach chair with all the other dog owners watching Annie with delight. This was SO worth the cost.
That night Blueh stared at the menu and was amazed herself. Everything on the menu that was for people was also for the dogs. So she ordered herself a huge hamburger and ordered Annie a big juicy steak. Blueh cut the steak and hamburger both into bite sized pieces and they both gorged themselves on half of each. Blueh fell asleep on a huge bed with curtains surrounding it and Annie got a matching bed that was almost as enormous.
They explored more of the ship the next day and found a huge dog park on the other side. It was filled with toys of every size and shape, tunnels to run through, slides like the one in the pool, and ramps, ropes, and every conceivable thing that a dog could find interesting. Blueh sat back on a deck chair, sipping a tropical drink and watched as Annie gamboled and played without a care in the world, stopping to make friends with other dogs, playing tug of war and games of chase.
The next day was raining, so they checked out a huge indoor version of the games outside. There were games of Frisbee, tennis balls flying every which way, and another pool strictly for dogs. Blueh decided to combine them, and grabbed a tennis ball to play water fetch.
They spent two weeks on the cruise, enjoying the sun, the fun, and the excellent food. It was the best summer Annie had every had. When the ship came back to dock, it was September and the weather had cooled. Annie spent time outside jumping in piles of leaves that Blueh had spent hours raking. Blueh just laughed. Annie was more spunky and vivacious than she had ever been and Blueh knew that neither she nor Annie would ever forget the perfect end to that summer.
