Twister here is named after my Real Life dog. I got Twister in 2010. I wasn’t planning on getting another dog but one day my Cousin called us saying one of her dogs brothers was at risk for being sent to the shelter. So with her at my side we bugged and pleaded with my mom lol. Finally on Father’s day weekend we went up to my grandpas. We first met Twister at a ice cream shop. He was absolutely terrified of me and my parents he wouldnt come out for anything. We went home after eating and went to her house the next day. There he was very playful and was offleash in an open yard. He played with his brother and chased sticks that i threw. It was then we decided to take him home. The whole ride he stayed on my lap wouldnt budge and if I tried moving him he dug his paws in which hurt because his nails havent been clipped yet.
When we got back to my grandpas house he stuck by my side refused t go to anyone. Eventually through hard work my dad got him to go to him too. But he was still skidish. We believe he was abused by the man in his old home because he was terrified of men. He’d shiver and dribble a little bit and growl and basically climb up me to get away. Whenever my brother came home he’d bark his head off from a distance. When we first brought him home it was a trial as if he didn’t get along with my cats we would have to send him back. But he walked in and practically ignored them. They of course where on the defensive and hissed and growled and swatted at him. But he was just like “HI GUYS I’M TWISTER HOW ARE YOU!”. He fit into the family like peanut butter and jelly. He was for sure one of the best choices I’ve ever made. I love him to death. Fast forward a few years and we only grew closer. He is my best friend, the person I can tell everything and anything too.
He is really smart too, he knows Down, sit, play dead (I say bang or make a gun noise and he’ll fall down). He was learning Paw and roll over but we didnt get very far. He does Paw sometimes. Again Fast forward to 2016, Twister’s eye started looking glassy, and it got worse over time so i told my parents and we took him into the vets, Where we learned he had Glaucoma., he was put on eyedrops and some liquid meds to try and take the pressure down. It didnt really work and about 3 months later we decided to have his eye. Then he was good for about a year and a half. Until one day he could see in the morning it was about 9am. We left for the DAC and came back I kept calling for him to come downstairs as my mom went up to let them out. And she told me to hang on that he was having trouble. I waited figuring he just couldnt get off my bed, as he was getting older and got scared sometimes or it just took him a minute to build up the will power. Finally he came downstairs and as he was coming my mom said i think hes blind. I noticed too because he was walking into everything and weirdly. She also said he was upstairs barking at the wall. Which was sad but I laughed a little.
We didnt try meds again because his vision was already gone and we decided it be cheaper and less painful to just have his eye removed. So now he is my blind old man. But he still gets around fairly well half the time i swear he can see becaues hes so good at it. He still goes to bed with me every night and follows me if i go to the bathroom. he doesnt really play dead anymore or do his other tricks other then sit.
Thanks so much for Visiting his profile. He really loves visitors. <3
