This adorable pup represents my real German Shepherd girly, Sandy. We got her about 9 years ago, as a young pup from a certified breeder. She was absolutely adorable. I still remember watching TV with her laying in my lap sound asleep. And the time it was my grandpa’s birthday (her “master” as such) she went into the pantry, grabbed a potato and brought it to his bed, waking him up with licks and nuzzles, and a wonderful birthday present haha.
She used to be a super fussy eater, and when she was a pup I had to feed her from a spoon. She’s out grown those days but it was very adorable.
In 2010, my grandparent’s decided to breed her. It was their plan from the start, so they made sure she was in perfect health and got all the papers sorted out. On December 9th, 2010, she gave birth to 5 amazing puppies and one unfortunate still-born, however that’s normal for a first pregnancy.
She was such an amazing mother to them, and wasn’t bothered by young me and my brother constantly coming to visit them all. My grandparents live in a house attached to ours so it was ideal.
I spent all my summer (since december is summer here) down in the laundry with them all, watching them grow, opening their eyes for the first time, their tails wagging everytime we came to visit them. I’d lay in the pen reading with the 5 rascals bouncing around me.
Of course it was hard on us all when we had to sell 4 of them. But we kept one, our little Bernardo.
She’s now 11 years old but still such a young dog at heart. She’s extremely clever too. She loves playing still, and belly rubs and cuddles are her absolute fave. She’s very protective of us but an absolute puppy.
This amazing pup represents the just as amazing Sandy.
How did I finally manage to bring her home, after 5 long years of searching? With lots of hard work and determination, the amazing member Maxiln agreed to trade me this amazing girl for my 4 digit Yorkie, who she absolutely adored. I’m so happy and thankful to finally have brought her home. All those lost re-homing, all those offer rejections, everything lead up to this amazing day. She’s finally home!
Here are some pictures of the real girl:
