I am setting up my new computer as this one is terminally ill (probably old age). anyway, in trying to set up Foo pets, I keep encountering warnings that the site is not safe. This concerns me as I really don’t want my new computer to get hit with viruses. Has anyone else experienced this?

The site is not secure, except in areas it needs to be, which is fine. It is secure on the bank and club page which means your details are safe. You don’t really need it on the rest of the site.

Thanks. That’s good to know. I think to be extra safe, I will use my old computer (the one I’m using now) until it totally disintegrates from old age. Hey, it’s over ten years old. A Methusalah of computers. I just worry about viruses. .. even though of course both computers are protected with anti-virus software.

Did you know that laptops are only expected to last 4 years? Found that out when my old 6 year old naptop needed repair.

We just replaced a 10 year old laptop that still works. The reason, Apple iTunes software would no longer load on it. We had to move my husband’s 16K music song collection from his iPod Classic (no longer supported and 10 years old as well) to the iPod Touch via the new laptop. Talk about a real chore.

I got you all beat🙃 My husband bought me a Gateway desktop in 2001. Loved it!. When we moved to TX I installed more memory, replaced the monitor and added a WiFi sim. It screams along on Windows XP with 512mb RAM. I disconnected it from the internet and nothing has been downloaded since 2005. It has all the old original games, i.e. tetris, solitaire, hearts and most importantly all my precious memories from over the years. Makes me smile when I look at the 3 1/2 inch floppy. It’s a definite reminder for me just how far we’ve come every time I turn it on😉

A man in the US found an original apple computer from the 80’s in his dad’s workshop after he passed on. The machine still works and when he put in the game floppy, it had his progress there ready to play. He had forgotten how to play it though!
